By the Toolstile team. Reviewed .
We make Toolstile, one of the products listed here, and compared each option on the same criteria (where it runs, how each AI app gets access, how accounts and sign-in work, what gets logged and what it costs) using public documentation and pricing rather than hands-on testing of every product. How we reviewed
7 alternatives to Obot. Toolstile is listed first because we make it. The list is not a ranking. Starting prices link to the vendor page they came from.

The comparison below covers what a team leaving Obot has to decide: hosting, per-agent access, accounts and sign-in, logging, cost and the work left with you. Facts come from Obot's public documentation and pricing on the dates under sources. We ran no benchmarks and gave no scores.
Obot offers virtual MCP endpoints with selected tools, user and group access, server hosting and traffic filters. Buyers can evaluate hosted cloud or deploy their own instance.
| Compare | Toolstile | Obot | Sources |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hosting responsibility | Connect vendor-run or independently hosted public HTTPS MCP servers. | Obot accepts hosted and remote servers; its docs cover cloud trials and self-managed deployments. | 12 |
| Tool permission composition | Applicable allows combine; a matching block wins during discovery and execution. | Tool profiles grant additive subsets within a component’s maximum tool set. Narrow profiles do not cancel broad grants. | 34 |
| Team account selection | A workspace default and member preference choose an approved upstream account; no silent fallback. | Obot’s gateway overview covers user and shared credentials plus secret bindings. | 52 |
| Private-network systems | Private IPs, localhost and local processes are outside the managed gateway boundary. | Obot documents private-network server connectivity through tunnels. | 16 |
| Budget and editions | Free 5,000 operations/month; paid plans from $29/workspace/month without seat fees. | Cloud has a 14-day trial; request its ongoing price. Community and Enterprise have different limits and responsibilities. | 789 |
| Content and wider controls | Metadata logging and optional debug capture; no live traffic filtering or device management. | Obot documents request/response filters and presents device management within its control plane. | 129 |
Managed remote MCP accessOur product
Share remote accounts without operating a control plane
If you use Obot mainly as an access point for remote providers, Toolstile offers a managed workspace with explicit client grants. Account contribution, approval and preferred-account selection are built around team sharing.
Select a cell to edit access. Explicit blocks always win.
| Agent | GitHub | Linear | Postgres |

| CodexBuild Mac mini | Full accessWith explicit blocks | No access | Selected accessWith explicit blocks |
| Claude DesktopMara's MacBook | Selected access | Selected access | No access |
| Claude CodeCI runner | Selected access | No access | No access |
delete_repositoryToolstile can give separately authorized clients different grants, with explicit blocks overriding broader allows. That fits a team sharing remote tools across apps that do different jobs. A shared harness credential still shares one authorization; evaluate Obot’s identity-provider groups separately if those are required.

Free; paid from $29/workspace/month. USD, monthly per workspace, no per-seat fee: Free 5,000 operations; Starter $29 for 50,000; Team $99 for 250,000; Scale $299 for 1,000,000. No paid overages: forwarding stops at the allowance. Tool calls, resource reads and prompt requests count, including upstream failures; listing tools does not. Provider and AI-client charges are separate.
